James P. McMahon II, PhD
December 3, 1951 - January 3, 2019

Jim found eternal rest on January 3, 2019 at the age of 67. Above all else Jim was devoted to loving and supporting his family. He leaves behind Janet, his wife of 40 years, sons Kevin (Melissa) and Connor (Jesslyn) and two grandsons, Camden and Tyler. Jim is survived by his sister, Peggy Schmitt (Mark). Jim’s humor, sharp wit, wisdom, calm nature and faith provided the bedrock for the family.

Through his career in higher education administration, Jim was dedicated to helping college students grow and develop outside the classroom through innovative programs, services, opportunities, and experiences. After 23 years of service, Jim retired from Marquette University in 2016. For most of that time he served as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Residence Life. His integrity, strong moral compass, leadership, and respect for all, was his way of reflecting the Marquette mission. Earlier in his professional life he served in student development roles at the University of South Carolina and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, from 9 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11 AM at MARTIN LUTHER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 9235 W. Bluemound Road, Milwaukee. Memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Southern Wisconsin appreciated.
