Dorothy L. Peterson

Dorothy Lucille (Timm) Peterson, formerly of Delafield, passed away at Shorehaven Health and Rehab in Oconomowoc on Thursday, December 6, 2018. She resided at Shorehaven since January of 2012 and greatly loved all the staff and residents there.

Dorothy was born in May 22, 1921 to Emil and Anna Mary (Brehmer) Timm on the family farm in Delafield. She was the youngest of ten children.

Dorothy was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. She attended Cushing School in Delafield through sixth grade and then St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Oconomowoc, where she was confirmed May of 1934. She attended Oconomowoc High School and graduated from Stout State University in 1943 with a Home Economics degree.

In August of 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harry Peterson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. Harry preceded her in death in August of this year.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid and served as secretary for Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 1168 for over 30 years. She was also a member of Waukesha County Home Economics Graduate Club and American Legion Auxiliary Post 196.

Dorothy made a full-size quilt for each of her eight grandchildren as they graduated from high school. Besides sewing, she enjoyed rosemaling, making grape-vine wreaths and traveling.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Duane (Sharon) Peterson of Delafield; daughter-in-law D. Sarah Peterson of Virginia; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her siblings; infant son Harry Peterson, Jr; son Dr. Gene Peterson and nephews, Otis Timm and Herbert Butler.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; 210 E Pleasant St.; Oconomowoc on Tuesday, December 11th. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral following and a meal at St. Paul’s. A committal will be held at the Delafield Cemetery later in the afternoon.
