Lois N. Rosholt
January 16, 1921 - October 11, 2018

Died October 11, 2018, at age 97. Lois was born and raised in Scandinavia, Wisconsin and left the farm for a better life in Milwaukee.

Lois started as a part-time teller at First Wisconsin Bank (now U.S. Bank). She discovered a flair for numbers and rose to a position handling new car dealer financing throughout the state. She was proud of her 34 years at “the Bank” and loved the retiree parties – a sea of white haired ladies at the Masonic Lodge.

Lois lacked a driver’s license, but that did not stop her from seeing the world, with bus trips to Nashville, Branson, Grand Canyon, Disney World and even Holland (Michigan). She has refrigerator magnets to prove it! With retirement, she spread her wings, travelling the world – Mexico, Guatemala, Canada, Costa Rica, Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama and the Caribbean.

Her adventurous spirit continued throughout her life. Jet skiing at Karen’s cottage – of course! Pontooning around the lake – don’t even think of leaving her behind. Karen will always remember hanging onto a light post at Disney World when Lois insisted they watch Illuminations one more time during the middle of a tropical storm. Even at Luther Manor, she was known as the “feisty one.” When Lois got up on her tippy toes and got that impish grin, you knew trouble would follow.

Lois may have left Scandinavia, but she never forgot her Norwegian heritage. Norwegian church dinners were a must and Norwegian foods had to be part of every Christmas. We’ll always remember her wearing her Viking hat at her Norwegian theme surprise party.

Lois is survived by her son, John Rosholt, daughter-in-law Shirley and grandchildren, Kristin (Christopher Seal) and James Rosholt. She is also survived by niece Karen Duke, nephew Kirby and extended family JoAnn, Kim, Alex and dear friends Kim and Dennis Poenish and their daughter Megan. She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy and parents LeRoy and Nora.

In our family, Lois is one of our beloved “ladies”. We will always remember her sitting on the deck at Karen’s lake cottage, being served lemonade and snacks while she watched for herons. She was treasured and will be missed.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Luther Manor Faith and Education Center, 4545 N. 92nd Street (North Entrance), Wauwatosa from 2 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 3 PM. Private burial at the Scandinavia Cemetery in Scandinavia, WI. Our sincere thanks to all the aides and nurses at Luther Manor, who provided a wonderful environment where Lois could prosper the last 10 years of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Luther Manor Foundation in Lois’ memory.
