Margaret J. "Jean" Walters
October 14, 1930 - August 30, 2018
        

Of Mequon, Wisconsin, entered Eternal Life, Thursday, Aug 30, 2018 at Newcastle Place surrounded by her loving family.  Jean was born October 14, 1930 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Edward Stanley Weisbert and Ethel Margaret (May) Weisbert.  

She graduated in 1948 from Mary D. Bradford High School Kenosha, Wisconsin.  She enrolled in the University of Wisconsin Racine extension.  It was there where she met Robert Raymond Walters of Racine, Wisconsin.  They were married on June 16, 1951.  She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.   

Jean started her physical therapy career at the Marshfield Clinic and finished at two nursing homes during the 1970s in the Milwaukee area.  

In 1968, Jean began her teaching career leading a pre-school at Bethany Lutheran School in Naperville, IL.  After the Walters family moved to the Milwaukee area in 1970, Jean founded the 4K children’s program at St. Peter-Immanuel in Milwaukee.  She initiated the 4K program at St. John’s Lutheran School in Glendale, WI where she also taught the 5K program.  Jean obtained her second bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at Cardinal Stritch College.  

In 1995, she and her husband both retired.  They enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with their grandchildren.   

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert R. Walters.  She cherished her children Nancy Lee (Mark) Wojcicki of Pewaukee, WI, Jonathan (Mary) Walters of Milwaukee, WI, Roberta (Fritz) Theilacker of Waukesha, WI, Karl (Mary) Walters of Temecula, CA, and Sarah (Jerry) Mladenik of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. 

Grandchildren include: Michael (Treshani) Wojcicki, Kathryn (Wojcicki) Wilson, Andrew and Benjamin Walters, Evan, Zoe, Emma, and Christian (Mary) McMiller, Amelia Walters, Jacob and Brooke Mladenik. 

Jean was actively engaged at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glendale, WI.  She exemplified her faith and love for Christ, her Savior, through continuous service in the church as well as daily life.  She encouraged children to read and enjoy books. 

Her children and grandchildren would like to thank the staff at Newcastle Place in Mequon for their caring service and support. 

Jean was blessed by the love shared with relatives and friends made over her lifetime.  As Jean repeated, “I am blessed by the Lord!” 

Services will be held on Sunday, September 2nd at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 7877 N. Port Washington Road, Glendale, WI 53217.  Visitation will start at noon followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm with luncheon afterward.  Interment will be held Tuesday, September 4th at 10:00 am at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
