Nancy Ann Goebel
July 4, 1932 - August 7, 2018

Nancy Goebel (nee Dathe) died early Tuesday morning, on 8/7, at her apartment at Willowbrook in Thiensville, WI. She was 86 years young.

Nancy was born in Milwaukee on 7/4/1932 to Walter and Catherine Dathe. Nancy graduated from Messmer High School in 1950 and was married to Harvey on 5/26/1951 until his death in 1990.

Nancy worked at Chapman’s for 10 years as a receptionist to the executives, then as secretary to the company president until she became pregnant. She left the workforce and became a stay at home mom to her son, Richard.  She rejoined the workforce and stayed with Underwriter’s Service Company for 22 years where she was an office manager until their office closed.  She taught English to several Spanish speaking adults at Old St Mary’s in Milwaukee.  From 1994 to 2000, Nancy worked as an office manager for Dr. Martha Jay, an ophthalmologist.

Nancy joined St James (now Lumen Christi) in Mequon in 1963 and enjoyed singing in their choir for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Age of Wisdom and the “Panera Group.”   She passed her time by baking some family favorites like banana bread and potato torte.  Her potato torte became a favorite birthday cake of Rich’s and her grandson, Chris.  Her grandchildren enjoyed her “secret homemade” chocolate chip cookies, the Toll House brand you could put on a cookie sheet, break apart and bake.  (Mom, your “secret” is out).  She also enjoyed passing the time doing word search puzzles.

Nancy is survived by her only child, Richard (Susan) Goebel, her brother, Thomas (Carol) Dathe, her grandchildren Christina (Josh) Aloisi, Christopher Goebel, Stephanie (Josh) Berlage, her great grandchildren, Travis and Madison Aloisi, and Kaleigh Goebel, and other family members and friends.

Nancy will be deeply missed and has touched many hearts. Her family would like to thank those that she has called family these past few years including her “family” at Willowbrook, Davita Dialysis Center in Cedarburg, and the Rehab Center at Newcastle.  Our thanks to her physician and staff at Highland Family Health Center, her nephrologists and staff at Milwaukee Nephrologists, and the caring, compassionate staff at Serenity Hospice Care.
