Frederick William "Fred/Fritz" Linstedt Jr.
August 4, 1922 - January 13, 2018
        

Age 95 years, was born August 4, 1922, and passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

Fred was born on the family farm in Colgate to Frederick and Elsie (nee Bird) Linstedt Sr. He was united in marriage to Elaine Helen Wachholz on December 19, 1945 (72 years ago).

Survived by his wife, Elaine Linstedt (nee Wachholz); Sister-in-law: Cherie (Garcia) Wachholz. Children: Frederick (Elaine) Linstedt III; Barbara (Norb) Yogerst, Ronald (Sherry) Linstedt;   Carol (Bob) Zuttermeister; and Marianne Totsch.                                                                              

Grandchildren: Andy Yogerst; Jamie (Kelli) Yogerst; Josh Linstedt; Vicki (Chad) Ketterer; Lynn (Eric) Kirschner; Rob (Jenny) Zuttermeister; Karin Totsch; Matthew (Meghan) Totsch                

Great Grandchildren: Will, Kate, Jamison, Lukas, Tate, Fynn, Emma

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Elsie; sister, Arline Linstedt; sister, Frances (Linstedt) Wachholz, brother-in-law Bill Wachholz; sister, Margaret (Linstedt) Busse, brother-in-law Lloyd Busse; brother-in-law Robert Wachholz. Also preceded in death by his son-in-law Harv Totsch.

Fred was a lifelong dairy farmer until his retirement. He farmed from horse power to tractor power. For 25 years he also was a milk hauler for Golden Guernsey Dairy, first as a milk can hauler then switched to bulk tank hauling. For his entire farming career he was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau, serving on the board of directors and as president. Each winter he helped coordinate the Florida fresh fruit program through the Farm Bureau. Fred enjoyed the outdoors, was a true sportsman enjoying hunting for pheasants, rabbits, and deer. He built a shotgun trap house at the farm which was well used. At age 80, he took up wild turkey hunting & shot his 1st turkey. Fred was on the Hillside Elementary School Board in Colgate prior to the formation of the Germantown School District. When the new school district was formed he became a member of the Germantown School Board, where he served for 24 years, including serving as president and clerk. He also was on the Richfield Town Board and Zoning Committee. He was a member of Zion Church, Colgate.  Fred was the Sexton and a Trustee at the Union Cemetery, Menomonee Falls for over 40 years. He was a lifelong supporter of 4-H family activities with his children and grandchildren. The Linstedt Family was host to 4-H exchange participants from Formosa and France. They also sponsored other exchange youth from Chile, France and the Netherlands. Fred and Elaine enjoyed roller skating in their younger years, and they always particularly enjoyed spending evenings playing sheepshead with family and friends.

A service will be held Saturday January 20th at 2:00 pm at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, Menomonee Falls, WI.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of service. Inurnment after  service at Union Cemetery, Menomonee Falls, WI followed by fellowship at Zion Church Building, Colgate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to family appreciated.
