Lois J. Dougherty

With grace and quiet elegance, reflecting the way she lived, Lois Jean Dougherty was delivered from the bonds of this world and joined her beloved husband in the presence of God.

Born to life March 10,1932, in Peru, IL, where she became known as “Dolly.” Born to eternal life September 18, 2017, at her home in Menomonee Falls, enveloped in the love of her family.

A kind, gentle, compassionate lady, she generally maintained her joyful, caring disposition and sense of humor despite a household that included eight kids, a dog and her aging father. Even in her failing health, she found the means to laugh.

Living by an implicit motto of faith, family and community, she showered her selfless love on others.

A devout Catholic, she supported both Good Shepherd and St. Mary parishes in Menomonee Falls. A skilled quilter and antiques collector, she enjoyed sharing her interests with friends.

She was an active volunteer and leader in the Menomonee Falls Historical Society, as well as the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the CMH Foundation’s annual Spring Splendor fundraising dinner, the Cheery Cherry Fall Fair, Tri-County YMCA of Menomonee Falls, Marquette High Mothers Guild, and St. Ben’s Meal Program. She and her husband were recipients of numerous community awards and honors.
