Born in Milwaukee on August 9, 1930.  Succumbed to cancer on Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home.  Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Magdalene (nee Schneider) Giesfeldt; and his brother, Ralph, Jr.  Beloved husband for 56 years of Elaine (nee Lange).  Survived by his daughter,  Susan (Harvey) Shumate; and his sons, John Giesfeldt and James (April) Giesfeldt.  Further survived by his grandchildren, Margaret, Benjamin and Douglas Shumate; Andrea and Madalyn Giesfeldt; his sister, Susan Floy of Iowa; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Gerald retired from the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company.  He belonged to the Cudworth Post and enjoyed singing in their chorus for many years. 

The family would like to thank VITAS Hospice and Nurse Tracy for their excellent care and also the support we received from the ministers and members of his Our Redeemer Lutheran Church family.

Visitation Saturday, September 23 from 1:30pm until time of Service at 3:00pm at OUR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 10025 W. North Avenue,  Wauwatosa.  Private interment Lincoln Memorial  Cemetery, Milwaukee.  Memorials to Our Redeemer Church or School appreciated.
