Henry " Harry " Fredrick Wagner of Oconomowoc, passed away on September 15th, 2017, at Marquardt Manor in Watertown, Wisconsin.

Harry was born on May 21st, 1927 in West View, Pennsylvania to his parents, Margaret and Ferdinand Wagner.  He and his brother William Wagner (of Milwaukee), grew up in a fluent German speaking home.  This served Harry well when he served in the Army during WWII in Austria, where Harry was assigned to facilitate returning displaced people back to their original countries. 

Harry was a very active and social person.  He retired as a tool and die maker from LaBelle Industries in Oconomowoc after 45 years of service. Harry fulfilled his childhood dream to become a fireman. He joined the Oconomowoc Fire Department as a volunteer fireman and soon he earned the nickname of " Hatchet Harry ". He earned his way to be a Lieutenant and served OFD for 40 years, never missing a fire call. Harry was also a proud member of the VFW Post 2260 where he served as a VFW Commander, with a life time membership and enjoyed the comradery of his fellow veterans.  He was also an avid outdoorsman with annual hunting and fishing trips with his good friends and family.  Harry and Ann were members of St. Jerome’s Parish for 68 years.

Harry was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Anna Marie Wagner. They were blessed with five children; daughters Judy Lee, Jane (Norm) Scherf, Janet (Phil) Williams, and sons John Wagner and Joseph Wagner. Grandchildren are Christopher Lee, Janessa (Jay) Penneau, James Wagner and Jessica Wagner.  His family enjoyed many camping trips throughout Wisconsin and across the country. He always had time for his children.

Harry lived his life to the fullest and even his time with Dementia and Alzheimer's for the past 3 years. Special thank you to the caring staff at Marquardt Manor in Watertown for the care and compassion they showed to Harry.  He loved people and they loved him.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 6 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 995 S Silver Lake St, Oconomowoc. Private burial will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Oconomowoc Fire Department or the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.
