Jacobs, Marshall J. "Chick"

Age 94. Passed away June 16, 2017 and reunited with his beloved wife Lucille, who passed away on June 13, 2017. He was born April 4, 1923 in Wild Rose, Wisconsin. He was the second of three children to Eva and Herbert Jacobs. His family moved to Delavan, Wisconsin in 1934 after his father's death. Marshall, fondly nicknamed "Chick", graduated from Delavan High School in 1941 and went to work earning money for college at The Gibbs Company. In March of 1943 he enlisted in the US Army and was commissioned in the US Infantry at Ft. Benning, Georgia. On Jan. 3, 1945 he was sent overseas and when WWII ended he served in the Army of Occupation in Japan. After returning to the U.S. he fulfilled his college dream by attending the University of Wisconsin receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was during this time that he met and married his precious Lucille and they were married August 28, 1948. After the birth of their first child, Marshall was called back to serve in the Korean Conflict. There he received the Silver Star and Purple Heart for Gallantry in action and rose to the position of First Lt. Company Commander. Returning home he immediately landed a Mechanical Engineering job with AC Spark Plug which, through mergers and reorganizations, became Delco Electronics. He worked there for 36 years in various engineering and managerial positions. Marshall was a gyro expert. The highlight of his career was working on the guidance systems for the Apollo spacecraft, the lunar module that landed on the moon, the Boeing  747 and Lockheed L1011 aircraft. He took his family to Florida for the exciting "lift off" of Apollo 10 in 1969.

Marshall was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Wauwatosa Civic Alliance which is a joint organization for all service clubs. He served as President for both and was also involved in other philanthropic organizations. He was active in Boy Scouts as a board chairman and Indian Guides. He loved His church, Bethany United Methodist, and served in different capacities: Finance Committee, Board of Trustees (serving as President one year), Youth Fellowship Counselor and Couplettes. Chick and Lucille were very social and loved to entertain family and friends. He loved to golf and was passionate about it. He and Lucille were members of the old Tumblebrook Country Club, he was a "Marshal" for 30 years at the Milwaukee GMO and played often with different golf groups.

Following his retirement at age 65 he and Lucille wintered in Florida so they could golf every day, meet friends and visit with family there. Together and individually they were also involved in golf and bowling leagues, as well as bridge clubs. Family was everything to Marshall under God. His love showed through with all his acts of kindness shown to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dear friends.
