Uncle Bernie was a great person and I enjoyed many, many good times over the 62 yrs that I have known him. He was one of my Dad’s best friends. He would hunt and fish with Uncle Bernie. I remember going up to Jenny Weber Lake with my cousins Erin and Patrick, Aunt Pat and Uncle Bernie. It was so much fun. Uncle Bernie shared the Milwaukee Road and the Milwaukee Fire Department with my Dad, Cliff Bertling. I cant say enough about what a great person he was and how we enjoyed the family get togethers. He always had a story or two to share. Uncle Bernie was always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed by his entire family and friends. Our prayers go out to the family and friends. He touched our hearts in so many ways. Rest in peace Uncle Bernie it was an honor to be related to you. Love your niece, Dana Bertling and Jim Bidwell.

I met Bernie while he was at Lake Country. He was a true gentleman who offered us both hours of conversation. I am a better person for having met him and am so thankful for the chats we enjoyed. May all of you find peace.
