Ruth A. Behling
May 20, 1923 - March 5, 2017
Another chapter in book of memories in the Rengert family has come to a close with Ruth's passing. The Wolber family and the Rengert family began their friendship in the 1920's when Ruth's father was minister at St. John Lutheran Church in Cardington. Both families having children of similar age shared a lot of time together in and out of school. The families were again reunited when our church celebrated their 150th anniversary. What a reunion that was! In response to the hospitality shown by my mother, Ruth sent one of her counted cross-stitched pictures. That began a yearly exchange of hand stitchery for hand baked goodies at Christmas time. In 1996, the bell pull with 3 angels arrived, becoming very meaningful as on Dec. 22nd that year, mother passed away very unexpectedly. I have always told Ruth that I have her "gallery" in my house! One she sent said "Youth is a gift of nature--Aging is a work of art"--each passing day brings greater reality to this saying! Overall, she was an inspiration as she was able to take everyday living and create a chuckle from it-especially in her Behling Banners!! I was able to visit Ruth and Karl at the farm once and what hospitality they showed--a golden memory!
Ruth's life always reflected a sincere appreciation and concern for her family and friends--and her strong sincere faith in God. What an example for all of us.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Saturday as you celebrate her life. How happy she must be to be with her Lord and Savior.
A memorial will be sent to Food for the Poor in her honor remembering how her brother, David, was so dedicated to that cause.
God's peace be with you all. Linda Ruehrmund (daughter of Viola Rengert Ruehrmund)
