Hable, Edward G.

Of Glendale. Passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joanna (Nee Zahnke). Beloved husband of  Betty (Nee McCusker). Loving father of William (Jane Tanner), Louise (Cordy) Champan, James, Michael (Mary Ellen Guild), Paul (Karen) and Steven Hable. Dear step-father of MaryBeth (John) Noyes, the late Michael (Gayle) Gaborsky, Miriam (George) Meeks and Kelli Gaborsky. Cherished grandpa of Katherine (Greg) Snow, John, Daniel, Joseph and Kristine Hable, Benjamin Hable-Guild, Kaylee Hable-Guild and Joanna Hable-Guild. Cherished great-grandpa of Henry Hable Snow. Dear brother in law of Jeanne Hable. Dear uncle of Thomas Svihlik, Timothy Hable and Mary Pat Hable. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Ed was a WWII Army Air Corp veteran, serving three years in the Pacific. He was a brilliant civil engineer, doing pioneering work for many decades. He greatly advanced the art of the standing seam roof common today on commercial and industrial buildings. Ed was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Ed loved his annual winter hangout in Treasure Island, Florida. He became a physical fitness advocate, years ahead of his time. And did he ever enjoy baseball. Happily, he and Betty saw their Brewers make the playoffs in this, his last season. Chairman of the Board of the Mequon Baseball League and father of five Hall of Famers. Visitation Friday October 10 from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM at ST. EUGENE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7600 North Port Washington Road, Fox Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM. Procession to Resurrection Cemetery for committal prayers and entombment to follow. If desired, memorials to St. Eugene Catholic Church appreciated.
