Tobey Stafford Pfleger

52, of Grafton died quietly in her sleep Saturday, August 20, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

While she preferred to be known only as mom, Tobey was very active in the Grafton Schools and developed Winterhaven Farm, a horse boarding stable also in the Town of Grafton. She was a gourmet cook and traveled extensively throughout the world with her family and friends, even when she was undergoing treatment for colon cancer.

Born in Marion, Ohio and raised in Glendale, WI, she was a graduate of Nicolet High School and Indiana University. In 1990 she was married to Eric Pfleger of Mequon and they moved to Grafton in 1991.

Winterhaven represented her lifelong interest in horses, which began with pony rides at the Illinois State Fair when she was just two. Both of her daughters are competitive riders.Her sons exhibited pygmy goats and chickens that now are keep at Winterhaven.

Tobey was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Stafford of Glendale. She is survived by her husband, Eric; daughters Liesel and Amelia, both students at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; sons William, a 2015 graduate of Grafton High School now attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and Ellis, a freshman at Grafton High School. She is also survived by two sisters, Haley Stafford of St. Francis and Kathryn Culbertson of Lawrenceville, GA; brother John Stafford of Milwaukee; mother-in-law Janet Pfleger of Scottsdale, Arizona, her father Roger Stafford and stepmother Beth Stafford of Mequon, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends and relatives.
