Carol W. Latorraca, M.D.
January 21, 1923 - August 20, 2016
        

 

 Latorraca, MD, Carol White, 93, passed away Saturday, August 20. She was born on Jan. 21, 1923 to the late Donald White and Ruth Adams Haseltine White of Wakefield, MA.  She married the late Rocco Latorraca, MD, in 1951 and lived together in Boston, Milwaukee and then in Wauwatosa, WI, until his death.  Dear mother of Mary (Luis) Machare, Carol (David) Cunningham, James (Beverly), Donald (Katherine), Rebecca (Jean Piero Sgriccia) and Ellen (Maurizio Murru). Grandma of Emily, Naomi, Phillipe, Whitney, Ian, Leah, Duncan, Isabella and Liliana. Great grandma of Mya and Malachi.   

Carol was a graduate of Wakefield High School in 1940 and received her BS from Massachusetts State College in 1945.  She graduated Tufts University School of Medicine in 1949, followed by an internship in Indianapolis, IN, and a residency in Syracuse, NY, where she met Rocco.    

Carol worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee as an anesthesiologist for over 30 years.

She volunteered at the Boerner Botanical Gardens as a docent and at the Economy Center Thrift Shop. She was an avid supporter of the Wisconsin Lutheran College Performing Arts Program, the Bethesda Lutheran Home and the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes).   

A visitation will be held at the FUNERAL HOME on Friday, August 26, from 5-7 pm. On Saturday, August 27, a visitation will be held at 10:30 am, at MOUNT OLIVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5327 W. Washington Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53208, followed by a service at 11:00 am. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens; The Milwaukee Rescue Mission; Mount Olive Lutheran School; or the Medical College of Wisconsin.
