Oscar Looser
September 24, 1924 - August 17, 2016

Oscar Looser died on August 17, 2016 at AngelsGrace Hospice. Baden Switzerland was the city of his birth on September 24, 1924. Tho he became a U.S. citizen as soon as he met the requirements, his Swiss heritage remained dear to him. His 5 children loved hearing about his family and boyhood home.

At age 24, loving an adventure, he left family and friends to travel to the Niagara Falls area in Canada and worked his way accross the country on his motorcycle. He then decided to explore parts of the U.S. He traveled to the West Coast, was captivated by Los Angeles and after a few years there his wanderings were interrupted when he met and then married Joan (a transplanted Illinois-an) on September 8, 1956. Their 60th wedding anniversary would have been celebrated in a few weeks.

Eventually, Oscar and Joan decided that the Midwest would be a good place to settle. They moved to Milwaukee, lived there briefly and moved to Brookfield for 16 years and finally, in 1975 put down roots in Oconomowoc where Oscar stayed until his death. He was employed by Vilter Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee for 30 years. His retirement was spent on home improvements, gardening, volunteering, and wood carving. His "Old World" Santas are being enjoyed and displayed by family members and many friends.

Oscar is the proud father of Kurt (Kathy), Mary Hein, John (Jennifer), Cindy (John) Haldemann, and Paul (Adrianne). He dearly loved his 13 grandchildren: Ashleigh, Bethany, Melissa, Jacob, Megan, Joshua, Alyssa, John, Elizabeth, Bruno, Alanna, Sofia and Lianna. He was "Pops" to 3 great grandchildren: Cade, Hannah and Avery.
