Charles J. Herro
January 27, 1921 - January 10, 2016

Charles J. Herro left this mortal coil on January 10, 2016. Born in Oconomowoc on January 27, 1921, Chuck was the son of Genevieve Nemoir and Joseph K. Herro, who were Lebanese/Syrian refugees. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1939. His history studies at UW-Madison were interrupted by his service in WWII as a pilot with the Army Air Corps, where he achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. His intent was to teach high school history; instead, he used the G.I. Bill to obtain a law degree from UW-Madison. He practiced law in Oconomowoc. In 1953, he married H. Patricia Snyder. They were the parents of nine children. He initiated and was involved in community organizations and events too numerous to mention. He loved Oconomowoc and often repeated his father's belief that "This is heaven on earth."

Chuck is survived by his wife; his children Katherine (Paul Filipowicz), Joseph K., Mark (Danielle), Susan (Richard Brown), Michael (Kim), Janet (Terry) Kaldhusdal, Margaret, and Kenneth; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister, Sylvia Thomas. He was predeceased by his son Thomas, and his sisters Margaret Balady, Laurice Wenzel, and Betty Wiedlin.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 9:30 am with a funeral mass at 11:30 am, all at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Oconomowoc. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the donor's choice are suggested.
