Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 8, 2015 at the age of 86. Loving husband of Barbara (nee Walker). Dear father of Kerry (Kate). Step-father of Julie (Randy) Dehn, Lisa (Thomas) Tietgen and Susan Byrne (Donald Doll). Grandfather of Michael, Daniel, and Kimberley. Step-grandfather of Timm Jr., Taylor, Trevor, Ashley, Monique, Rachel, and Ryan. Further survived by brother James (Bonnie), sisters Theckla (John) Schultz, Judy (William) Perry, former daughter-in-law Dr. Anne Baumgardt and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Sr. and Theckla, sister Nell Baczanski and brother Elmer Jr.

An avid sports fan, in 1948 John signed as a semi-pro pitcher for the Janesville Cubs. Later he joined the family business as a mason contractor and became president of the Mason Contractors Association of Milwaukee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 15, 2015 at Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church, 31385 W. Hill Rd., (Hwy 83), Hartland, WI from 3pm until time of service at 4:30pm. Private entombment Wisconsin Memorial Park.
