Leland J. “Lee” Ward of Mequon, WI was Born to Eternal Life on Friday April 10, 2015 at the age of 87. Lee was born on December 5, 1927 the son of Frank and Sarah (nee Beaucock) Ward. He married Anita Vollmer on October 14, 1950 at St. Alphonsus Parish in Greendale, WI.  Survivors include, his wife of 64 years; Anita, children; Michael of West Bend, Nancy (Rick Wheeler) of Minneapolis, MN, David (Patti) of Grand Junction, CO and Alan (Catherine) of Mequon, grandchildren: Robin (Yurie), Corin, Owen, Anna and Harry, sister; Helen Denneau of Louisiana, and  sister-in-law Alice Ward of Oconto. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11:00 AM on Saturday April 18, 2015 at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 10280 Port Washington Road, Mequon, WI 53092. Military Honors to follow. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Lee worked for The Milwaukee Journal as a Web Pressman, retiring after 43 years of service. He was an active member of Lake Drive Baptist Church, US Army Veteran, and a 25 year member of the Howard Schroeder American Legion Post 457.  An avid outdoorsman, he also loved gardening, especially for tomatoes and zucchini. He was always fixing something useful, both at home and for others in the neighborhood. We will miss him deeply.  Visitation Friday April 17, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 10280 Port Washington Rd, Mequon, 53092, and Saturday April 18 at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service.
