Pauline J. Birnbaum
September 6, 1929 - February 28, 2015

(Nee Howard)  Found peace on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the age of 85 years.  Beloved wife of the late John.  Loving mother of Dr. Mark A. (Erica) of Orlando, FL; Thomas J. of Santa Cruz, CA; Joan M. (Mark) Bahr of Wauwatosa; and the late Karen A. Birnbaum.  Dear grandma of Nicholas (Stephanie), Elise and Amy Bahr.  Great grandma of Oliver.  Sister-in-law of Mike Birnbaum and Jack Sweeney.  Further survived by other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by her parents Chester and Myrtle Howard and her sister Betty DeMuth, brother-in-law Ben DeMuth, and sister-in-law Nancy Sweeney.

Pauline dedicated her life to her four children. As many know, she was caregiver to Karen for her entire life of 44 years.  Without Mom, Karen's life would have been much more difficult and certainly shorter.  Mom  (and Dad) always made sure Karen was included in whatever she could be. Mom always found the best side of things, even though circumstances were often difficult due to Karen's many needs.  Uncomplaining to the end, she was a positive person and could be counted on to be as helpful as possible.

Pauline loved gardening and always had flowers and vegetables growing.  She enjoyed feeding the birds but had a decades-long battle with the local squirrels and rabbits.

Visitation on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 12130 W. Center Street, Wauwatosa, from 10 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.  Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Many thanks to the kind care she received from St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus and Seasons Hospice. Memorials to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus or Curative Care Network appreciated.
