Insp. Kalivoda did background checks on me when I first came on the police force in 1972. Only lasted 7.5 years. to much Politics. Joe was a police aide and I guess that is how you advance in that corrupt organization. I was a veteran but that was not good enough for those who did not serve...they are all so good

Joan, Nancy, and Kalivoda Family,

So very sorry to hear about your loss. Although I only met Joe a few times, our conversations always turned to golf. I regret not ever having the opportunity to play a round with him.

We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers and ask God to comfort you during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to the Kalivoda family on the passing of Joe. Had many fun nights in the St. Bernadette bowling league years ago with Joe on our team. Was glad to run into him a few months ago at Linden Grove with his wife Joan and my old classmate Jean, and reminisce about the old days. My Mom Joan also sends her sympathies to the Kalivoda family. God bless in this difficult time.

Joe Kalivoda was the captain at District 3 when I was there as the Early lieutenant in the 1970's. He had a large sign behind his desk that read "The copper that looks is the copper that finds." Kind of like "seek and ye shall find." He was a great copper and a true gentleman that mentored a lot of young MPD supervisors. May he rest in peace.

We are sincerely sorry for your loss. Having been on the department during Inspector Kalivoda time. I saw in him a good heart and he always had a kind word when spoken too. Both Diane and I are praying that God is with your family during this time of loss.
