Of Bristol, WI. Passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, age 77 years.   Beloved husband for 32 years of Carol (nee Gilbert).  Dear father of David Laskowski, Lynn (Jamie) Roth, Stacy (Eric) Calcagnino and Scott Laskowski.  Loving “Dziadzia” of Julian Calcagnino.  Dear brother of Florence (the late Nick) Corriere, Edward Laskowski and the late Norman "Dick" Laskowski.  Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   

Visitation Thursday, August 21 from 4:00pm until time of Service at 7:00pm at the Funeral Home.  Interment with full military honors will take place on Friday, August 22 at 11:00am at SOUTHERN WISCONSIN VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance appreciated.   

Gene was born in Milwaukee on July 13, 1937 to a Polish immigrant, John Laskowski, and his wife Mary (nee Kitkowski). He grew up on Milwaukee’s south-side and was a resident of Milwaukee until retiring at 52. Gene then moved to New Berlin, and subsequently relocated to the Village of Bristol. He served his country and city in the National Guard, and as a member of the Red Arrow Artillery, US Army during the Berlin Crisis, and as a Fire Fighter in Milwaukee for 32 years He was a member of the American Legion Milwaukee Fire Fighters Post #426. 

We who know him best remember him loving life, family and friends, and making music. He was a singer and guitar player who could be found in the 80’s featured by Frontier Express or performing alone in small venues. He was a duck hunter and trap shooter in early years, but found golf at the age of 50, never putting his clubs down for 27 years. His greatest joy was visible as he spent time watching Julian flourish under the love of Stacy and Eric. 

We will miss him dearly but hold his love in our hearts forever.
