William T. "Bill" Haig

Haig, William T. “Bill”  Of Oak Creek. Born to Eternal Life, Saturday, April 6, 2013, age 78 years. Beloved husband for 54 years of Naomi (nee Schultz). Dear father of Susan Haig, Juliann Belanger and the late Karen (Dean) Halvorson. Loving grandfather of Brett, Brooke, Nicholas and Bridget. Dear brother of Peggy O’Leary and Robert Haig. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill was a major figure in sports radio broadcasting in Wisconsin. He began his career in advertising sales in 1954 at WFOX in Milwaukee. His sales and management career continued at WRIT and WTMJ radio in Milwaukee and he eventually served as general manager of WIGL-AM in Superior-Duluth, and at WTMJ-AM and WKTI-FM. It was during his fifteen year tenure at WTMJ, first in sales, then as sales manager and finally as general manager that WTMJ developed it’s strong sports image becoming the flagship station for the broadcast network of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Bucks and the University of Wisconsin Badger football and basketball teams. From 1980 to 1997, he served as Vice-President of Broadcast Operations for the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club, overseeing all production, advertising sales and networking facets of the Brewer Broadcast networks. Throughout his career, Bill won many awards, both locally and nationally for his role in broadcasting, including the Wisconsin Broadcast Hall of Fame in 1997.

Visitation Wednesday, April 10 from 4:00pm until time of Service at 7:00pm at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial and interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee will take place at a future date.
