Viktor Scheu of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, entered into his heavenly rest peacefully Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at his home at the age of 93.

Dearest son of the late Friedrich and Magdalena Scheu. Beloved husband of Lieselotte Scheu. Cherished father of Diana (Guy) Thompto of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Precious grandfather to Kyle (Sarah) Gisbrecht of Winnetka, Illinois, Kayla (Justin) Kazemi of Lakewood, California, and Justin Thompto of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Adored great-grandfather to Charlotte Gisbrecht and Julian Kazemi. Treasured brother to Irene (Gene) Brunner, the late Hans (Elvira) Scheu, and the late Friedrich “Fred” (Amy) Scheu. Esteemed uncle to Vicky (Brad) Ohde, Monika Scheu, Peter (Pati) Scheu, Erika (Andrew) Wagner, Rebecca (Sean) Lynch, the late Brian Scheu, and the late Michael Brunner. Loved by his extended family, including Harold Gisbrecht, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Viktor was born October 2, 1930, in Ukraine to Friedrich and Magdalena Scheu. After marrying Lieselotte in Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany, in 1955, Viktor and his wife immigrated to the United States in 1957. He built a successful career for more than 25 years at Briggs & Stratton. He was a long-time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, the Berliner Bären, DANK Choir, and German Fest Milwaukee where he served as a director. His most honored roles were husband, father and “Opa.” Viktor shared the deepest love and devotion with his greatest joy, his “Schatz” Lilo, for their 68 years of marriage. He delighted in raising his daughter, Diana, and especially treasured their bond. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immense happiness, as he was a passionately involved and guiding force in their lives.

Viktor will be remembered for his faith in Christ. He will also be remembered for his unmatched generosity, his precision and structure in all areas of life; his eager help in any situation; his sharp, impeccable fashion; his meticulous landscaping; his zest for daring and adventure; his ballroom dance expertise; his service as family documentarian through the lens of his video camera; his gifts of Champagne at any occasion; his quiet acts of charity; his solid advice, and his signature smile. Most of all, he will be treasured for loving his family so richly beyond measure. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 10025 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
