Jean L. Lang, M.D.
November 12, 1933 - January 19, 2017

(nee LeFebvre) Age 83, of Whitefish Bay, formerly from Madison, WI passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Mequon, WI.  Proceeded in death by her daughter, Nancy and her parents Wesley LeFebvre and Eleanor Wenger. Survived by her loving and devoted husband for 57 years Gordy Lang, son David, daughter Heidi (Bill) Rosati; Grandchildren: Dominic & Stefano Rosati, Anthony and Christopher Lang and many, many friends.

Jean was a proud graduate of Lowell Elementary School, Madison East High School (’51), University of Wisconsin-Madison (’55) and UW Medical School (’59).  Two days after she graduated from Medical School she married her classmate, Gordy, and they began their medical careers together at Madison General Hospital.

In 1965, they moved to Milwaukee where Gordy began his career as a Pathologist at St. Mary’s Hospital. For 52 years they have lived in Whitefish Bay where Jean worked hard to create a happy and loving home and was involved in many church and community organizations. A lifetime member of Bay Shore Lutheran Church, she was the first woman Church Council Member and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.  Jean brought the spirit of Christmas to life for many years through a Sunday School Christmas Pageant, which involved many children as well as live farm animals in the sanctuary! She was an integral part of so many activities in the Whitefish Bay community.  Most notably in 1974, she co-founded the Whitefish Bay Fourth of July Parade & Klode Park Picnic, which continues to be a Whitefish Bay tradition today.  Jean served as President of the Henry Clay PTA and in many other volunteer roles in the Whitefish Bay School District. She was actively involved in The Cream City Calligraphers, President of the Tri Delta Sorority Alumnae Group as well as serving for many years as a volunteer in the St. Mary’s Hospital gift shop.

With an amazing sense of humor, an avid reader and self-professed “night owl” she was known for getting the most out of every day of life!   She saw the best in everyone she met, was a great listener and provided a shoulder to lean on for any one who needed it.   Her list of friends spans her lifetime!   Jean greatly enjoyed regularly keeping in contact with friends, near and far, through handmade cards and heartfelt letters. Each year she looked forward to humorously summarizing the family’s most mundane events of the year through her Christmas letter, due to popular demand, the subscriber list grew larger annually!

Jean and Gordy are deeply grateful for the love and care that she received over the last 18 months from the  staff at New Castle Place Health Center and Horizon Hospice, Mequon, WI.

Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 29th at 2:00pm Bay Shore Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Hampton Rd. Whitefish Bay, WI 53217, and Visitation beginning at 12:30pm. Burial will take place at a later date.
