Patricia M. Walter
March 21, 1929 - December 1, 2016
        
Patricia McCafferty Walter of Mequon, WI, formerly of Hilton Head, SC and Eastchester, NY died December 1, 2016 at home after a brief illness. 

           

Mrs. Walter, daughter of the late Commander William J. McCafferty (US Navy) and Ann Curry McCafferty, was born March 21, 1929 at Fort Slocum, in New Rochelle, NY.  Mrs. Walter attended Nazareth College and New York University, graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1951 as an Interior Designer.  After raising 7 children, she continued her education at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in 1975 with a dual major in History/Political Science and Religious Studies. 

 

Mrs. Walter was predeceased in 2003 by her best friend and loving husband of fifty years, C. Richard (Dick) Walter. She is survived by two sons; Mark (Margy) Walter of CT and Dr. Gregory (Janine) Walter of New Zealand, as well as four daughters; Stephanie (Rich Gannon) Walter of  WI, Lisa (Chuck) Christiansen of VA, Deirdre (John) Fahy of NY, and Tara (Jim) Elgass of IL. She was predeceased by her daughter Valerie Walter.  Mrs. Walter leaves behind twelve beloved grandchildren, Angel (Joe) Farrell, Gregory (Christie) Walter Jr., Jason and Avery Walter, Sean, Brian, Brendan and Stephen Fahy, Chelsea and Ali Woodruff, and Erin and Alison Elgass, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Dash, Hunter, and Andrew Farrell.  She is also survived by her sister Joan (Ed) Lahey of CT and her brother Bill (Sheryl) McCafferty of NY.  Her sister Marie (Larry) Fay predeceased her. 

 

Mrs. Walter was active in her church and community both in New York and South Carolina before moving to Wisconsin, having been twice elected to the Eastchester NY School Board.

 

Pat enjoyed a wide variety of artistic crafts and hobbies, particularly rubber stamping.  She started a rubber stamp club for fellow enthusiasts after she moved to Wisconsin. She also was a gourmet cook who enjoyed taking cooking classes around the world.  When not entertaining or spending time with family, Pat and her husband Dick enjoyed traveling the world.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 28 from 11am-12noon at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Road in Mequon, Wisconsin, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment beside her beloved husband will take place at a later date in Hilton Head, SC.
