Carol A. Stuehrk
February 7, 1929 - October 16, 2016

(Nee Anderson) Of Bayside, WI passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Loving wife of the late Charles (Chuck) for 57 years. Beloved and cherished mother of Steven (Karen) Stuehrk of Mequon WI, and C. Andrew Stuehrk (JF Callan) of Tucson AZ. Proud and loving grandmother of Susan Stuehrk (Austin TX), and Katherine Stuehrk (Chicago IL). Further survived by brother Gordon P. Anderson (Judy) of Savannah GA.

She was born February 7, 1929 in Evanston IL to Clarence and Edna Anderson. She graduated from Niles East HS and attended Indiana University where she met her future husband Charles.  They married in 1949 and moved to Lake Bluff IL in 1954, after attending a series of musical parties with new friends in the village.  They would go on to host many musical events in their Blodgett Ave. home for decades, which included pianist Hank Wells, a Bloomington IN native and friend of composer Hoagy Carmichael, and dear friends Alice and Cliff Stocklin, and Fred and Jane Gifford.  The ambience of those gatherings was truly special.

Beginning in 1973, Carol enjoyed a long and distinguished career in real estate with Koenig & Strey in Lake Forest.  She recalled fondly meeting many new families and encouraging them to move to the area, and she was privileged to have made so many wonderful friendships with colleagues. Carol was an extraordinary cook and she loved to entertain as anyone who enjoyed one of her exquisite meals would attest. The Fourth of July and Christmas Eve gatherings always stood out.  On the 4th, she could be found on the corner of Scranton and Evanston Aves enjoying the annual LB parade. On Christmas Eve her home became the center of her holiday celebration with Prime Rib, festive music and extended family in abundance for over 50 years.  Carol had a marvelous fashion sense and style. Among her children's earliest memories were of her and Chuck getting dressed up beautifully for a night out.  Even in her later years, after moving to Wisconsin, she would insist on being ready for each day, looking as elegant as ever.

A memorial service to celebrate Carol will be held privately with family.  The family would like to express its gratitude and special thanks to the staff of Elizabeth Residence Bayside and Dr. Paul Hartlaub for their wonderful care during the past 5 years, and to Horizon Home Care & Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests contributions be made to Horizon Hospice Milwaukee.
